Amsterdam |
The next morning we ate our free breakfast at the hostel and made some friends. Although we all talked about hanging out all day, the feasability of 13 people(strangers) sticking together the whole day was slim to none. Don't get me wrong, Amsterdam isn't that large of a town, but those guys were so stoned they could barely keep up with us walking from the hostel to the museum(a few blocks away)
After breakfast we (the original four and our new not-stoned friend MacKenzie) ended up at the Van Gogh museum and the park outside. There was a giant sign that read IAMsterdam...those Dutch guys really need to learn to spell...sheesh. Here's a few pictures from the park...I would call it a photo shoot but they were REALLY having a photoshoot right next to us, so I don't want to exaggerate...
Our new friend McKenzie....
The original four...
This was taken the day before when I made Chris and Josh stop to take my picture in front of my giant initials...
It was really cool nin the Van Gogh museum, but the paintings almost didn't faze me because I was at the British museum just one week before (where I saw a whole lotta Van Gogh,Picasso,Monet,Manet...etc) so while I think it was definately worth the 13 euro (we were there for an hour and a half), it was not really the highlight of my trip.
After the museum Mary bailed out on us to finish her essay for her tutorial the next day so Chris and Josh and I trid to fin the botanical gardens, ended up in a park, then the zoo until we FINALLY found the little green spot on the map that was the botanical gardens.
Unfortunately, I left my camera with Mary so I didnt get any pictures of the garden but here's what we saw...
A butterfly house
A cactus house
A bee apiary
man eating carniverous plants
giant alien like palm trees
a mini pineapple plant!
After the garden we net up with Mary, ran to a liquor store to send Josh some REAL Absenthe, the hopped on a plane and flew home.
We actually got home pretty early as the flight only 30 minutes and we traveled back in time.
Last night I saw Wicked in London, tomorrow I'm going to Stratford Upon Avon and Monday is Stonehenge so set your tivo because the next post will be a dozey!
Amsterdam looks like it was loads of fun--can't wait to hear more about it..in person! Enjoy your last bits abroad!!
